What Do You Know about Laser Hair Removal?

Can you imagine not having to shave ever again?  What about not having to deal with razor stubble or ingrown hairs?  A dream come true, right?

Electrolysis and lasers are presently the only way to achieve permanent hair reduction.   Laser hair removal (LHR) has been around for 15 years and has proven to have better success in fraction of the time.  Many people who are not educated about LHR dismiss the idea based solely on what they may have heard through the grape vine regarding the pain and price.

As far as price is concerned, LHR may seem like a lot of money up front, but when looking at it compared to waxing every 2-3 weeks for years on end, I think LHR is worth every penny!   Remember, waxing doesn’t permanently reduce the amount of hair – it’s just a quick fix!  And what about the pain?  Yes, LHR can be painful, but what about electrolysis, waxing and threading?  They can be painful too!  Because everyone’s pain threshold varies, some clients find the LHR experience merely uncomfortable.   I find that most clients will tolerate a little pain once they are educated on the LHR process and know that the results yield permanent hair reduction.

Most LHR packages require 6-8 treatments per area of the body which take place over a 6-12 month time frame.  Following treatment, clients can expect 75-85% permanent hair reduction.  There will never be 100% removal mainly because hair grows in different cycles and hormones can play a big part in hair growth.  You’ll find that the hairs that are left behind are finer hairs that didn’t grow during the year that you were treated.

One downfall of LHR is that it will not treat gray or blond hair.  So, if you have ever contemplated getting LHR and your hair is turning gray, hurry before it is too late!  It’s also recommended that you stay out of the sun during treatment – making the fall the best time of the year to start!

At The Medical Spa at Nova, we have lasers to treat all skin type safely by our trained professional aesthetics team.  I encourage you to come in for a free consultation to learn more.  I’ll bet you wonder why you didn’t look into it sooner!
