![]() | Tobey Balazs, MSN, FNP Certified Family Nurse Practitioner Tobey received her bachelor's degree in biology with a minor in animal science from Virginia Polytechnic Institute in 2002. She continued her education at the Virginia Commonwealth University where she received both her bachelor's degree and master's degree in nursing. Following graduation, Tobey returned to her hometown of Sterling, VA. She joined Nova Medical & Urgent Care Center, Inc. in 2006. Tobey is a certified Family Health Nurse Practitioner through the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. Prior to joining Nova, she worked in cardiothoracic surgical intensive care, medical/surgical units, and the emergency room. Tobey enjoys treating patients of all ages and is currently pursuing a certification in diabetes education. She is a member of Virginia Council of Nurse Practitioners. In May of 1999, she earned her Masters of Science in Nursing at the George Mason University in collaboration with the George Washington School of Medicine. Rachel is certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner by the American Nurses Credentialing Center and is a member of Sigma Theta Tau National Honor Society. Rachel has extensive experience in the treatment of infectious diseases and the care of adults and children suffering from HIV and AIDS. She has worked in acute care settings as well as clinics for the underserved and indigent population of Northern Virginia. She joined Nova Medical Group in 2004. Dr. Jeffrey Conklin was born in Orchard Park, New York and received his Medical Degree from the State University of New York at Buffalo School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences in 2002. Upon successful completion of the Internal Medicine-Pediatrics Residency Program at MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland, Ohio, Dr. Conklin started practice at the MetroHealth Buckeye Health Center in 2006. He is joining Nova Medical Group as of January 2011. |
![]() | Christopher Connolly, MD Board Certified in Internal Medicine Dr. Connolly graduated from James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Virginia with a degree in biology. He received his medical degree from the New York Medical College of Valhalla, New York and completed his residency in Internal Medicine at the Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Prior to his medical school training, Dr. Connolly conducted specialized research for the Department of Emergency Medicine and the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Medical College of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. During his medical school training at New York Medical College, Dr. Connolly was granted a research fellowship and continued his research interests in the field of Gastroenterology and Infectious Disease. Donald, DO Board Certified in Family Medicine Dr. Robin Donald was born and grew up in Memphis, TN and received her undergraduate degree in biology from Xavier University of Louisiana, New Orleans, LA. She later earned her medical degree from Western University of Health Sciences, College of Osteopathic Medicine of the Pacific in Pomona, CA. After completing a family medicine residency at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center/St Francis Hospital in Memphis, TN, she and her family relocated to the Northern Virginia area. She currently resides in Herndon, VA. Dr. Donald is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians, American Medical Association, and the American Osteopathic Association. She attended Southwestern Medical School in Dallas, TX where she completed her training as a women's health nurse practitioner in 1998. After moving to California with her husband and family, she further studied as a family nurse practitioner at the Harbor UCLA, which she completed 2003. Shawn holds dual board certifications as a Family Nurse Practitioner by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners and as a Women's Health Nurse Practitioner by the National Credentialing Center. Shawn comes to Nova Medical & Urgent Care Center, Inc. bringing experience from a variety of healthcare settings including family practice, urgent care, preventive medicine, women's health care, diabetes education, and disease management. Shawn served as a volunteer for the American Red Cross at the Naval Hospital while stationed in Okinawa, Japan with her husband and children. She was later hired at the Naval Hospital to provide care to military members and their families. Shawn is a member of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners, the American College of Nurse Practitioners, Nurse Practitioners in Womem's Health, the American Academy of Diabetic Educators, and Sigma Theta Tau National Honor Society. She attended Alfred University in Alfred, NY, where she received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Following graduation, she joined the Army Nurse Corps. After completing a tour, she married, but continued with the Army as a civilian. After living in Germany for 10 years, she moved to Virginia to work at DeWitt Army Hospital. She received her master's degree from Marymount University in Arlington, VA and became a family nurse practitioner. Diane joined Nova Medical & Urgent Care Center in 2009 and is certified through the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. She is a member of the Virginia Council of Nurse Practitioners. Following marriage and two children, she received an undergraduate degree in nursing from George Mason University, a master's degree in nursing from Catholic University and a PhD in Nursing from Case Western Reserve University. Dr. Grosso has experience in hospital nursing, hospital administration, and the teaching of nursing at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Since 1982, she has maintained a private practice of psychotherapy, helping patients with anxiety, depression and the major mental illnesses. More recently, her practice has expanded to include helping patients with chronic pain, chronic illness, and stress-related illnesses. Dr. Grosso has memberships in various professional organizations. She is certified in Adult Mental-Health Nursing by the American Nurses Credentialing Center and also in Clinical Hypnotherapy by the American Society for Clinical Hypnosis. She most recently completed a certificate program in Biofeedback. She is a clinical member of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy. Dr. Grosso joined Nova in 2003. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Dietetics from James Madison University in 1992, graduating Magna Cum Laude. The following year, Amy completed her dietetics internship at Brigham & Women's Hospital, teaching affiliate of the Harvard Medical School, in Boston, MA. She also received specialized diabetes training from The Joslin Diabetes Center in Boston and The International Diabetes Center in Minneapolis, MN. Over the past 14 years, Amy has worked as an in-hospital dietitian, a media dietitian, and a home care specialist. In 2003, she received her certification as a diabetes educator. Before joining Nova Medical Group, Amy worked as a diabetes educator for the Inova Fair Oaks Diabetes Center. She is a member of the American Dietetic Association. Teerawong Kasiolarn, ND, MSAc., LAc. He completed an internal medicine residency in 1969 and endocrinology training in 1971. Dr. McMurry is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians, a member of the Endocrine Society and a former President of the Washington, DC Affiliate of the American Diabetes Association. After practicing for many years in his solo medical practice in Montgomery County, Maryland, Dr. McMurry and his wife Rebecca moved to Leesburg. During his time off, Dr. McMurry enjoys photography, genealogy and exploring early Virginia history with his wife. Nicole Woods, MSN, FNP Certified Family Nurse Practitioner Nicole Woods, FNP was born and raised in Southern California. She earned her Bachelor's in Biology Degree from La Sierra University and went on to pursue Advanced Practice Nursing at Loma Linda University School of Nursing. Nicole worked her way through graduate school as a surgical nurse in an underserved population. She completed the program in December of 2008, earning her Master's of Science in Nursing as a Family Nurse Practitioner. Nicole is board-certified by the American Nursing Credentialing Center. She is a member of the American Nurses Association, American Academy of Nurse Practitioners, and was inducted into Sigma Theta Tau International, Gamma Alpha Chapter.
