We understand that the diagnosis of cancer and its treatment takes a large toll on the mind, body and spirit. The goal of oncology massage is to provide comfort-oriented massage or touch, in an effort to soothe, nurture, and piece the body together.
Our skilled massage therapists certified in oncology massage are aware of the needs of those who have gone through cancer treatment, such as adjusting for the risk of lymphedema, fatigue, bruising, immunosuppression, and the side effects of trauma to the body and spirit. The key to safety and comfort for our clients is in the adjustment of pressure, length of session, positioning, and avoidance of affected areas of body.
All people with cancer or recovering from its treatment – regardless of the severity of their condition – can receive comfort-oriented touch therapies including Swedish massage, Shiatsu, Reiki, and fascial release techniques.
Bodywork treatment during treatment and immediate recovery is undemanding, supportive and soothing. As the client returns, massage sessions can be part of improving function through range of motion techniques or scar release, or re-establish body image.
Post-Radiation Clay Wrap
The Post-Radiation Clay Wrap is a soothing treatment encouraged for post-radiation cleansing, using protocols from our naturopathic doctors. A French green clay poultice is first applied to the area of radiation. After 30-minutes of relaxation, the client will enjoy a cool rain shower. To complete the post-radiation cleansing, Calendula ointment is then applied. Physician approval is required.
Our licensed master aestheticians certified in oncology aesthetics are trained to provide restorative skin care therapies to those living with cancer. All treatments emphasize the client’s safety and environmental sanitation.
Our aestheticians understand the special health needs of those with cancer or recovering from its treatment, allowing them to select the appropriate professional skin care products, ingredients and protocols for cancer-related skin conditions.
Our Restorative Oncology Facial Treatment can help with some of the visual skin damage that occurs during oncology treatments. It is designed to be a relaxing, holistic treatment to help nourish and restore the integrity of the skin.
Gentle cleansers, toners and moisturizers are used throughout the service. Exfoliation is done through a calming massage technique; extractions and harsh scrubs are avoided to soothe sensitive skin. The service concludes with the application of a hydrating mask and a light pressure scalp and neck massage.
Only restorative treatments can be performed during and up to one year of completing oncology medical treatments. Physician approval is required.

Breast reconstruction of any kind cuts into the fascial system and can leave behind painful restrictions that limit mobility within the upper body. It can also leave behind scar tissue that the body haphazardly throws into place to knit itself together quickly. As a result, individuals may experience difficulty with inhalation or pain when breathing deeply, difficulty moving the chest and/or arms, painful scars or burns from radiation and chemotherapy, or the sensation of a hard lump within the breast tissue from scarring. These restrictions in the fascial system are important to treat manually for further recovery.
During a Myofascial Release (MFR) treatment, scarring on and/or around the breast and lymph node areas will be treated to help relieve pain and discomfort resulting from cancer treatments. Gentle pressure is applied until the fascia releases. This, in turn, assists the tissue in rebuilding itself. Women who also tend toward cystic breasts can benefit from this treatment – even with no history of breast cancer. It’s also an excellent complementary treatment to existing self-care programs!
50 and 80-minute sessions are available. Please call 703-554-1130 for pricing.
